Emiliano Raul Taffarel Sala is an Argentine footballer born on the 31st of October,1990 (28 years) in Cululu.
The Argentine started his youth football career in his homeland before moving to France to sign his first professional contract with Ligue 1 side Bordeaux before making his debut in February 2012.
Struggled to break through the Bordeaux side, he was loaned out to championnat National side Orleans and ligue 2 side Nort in consecutive seasons scoring 39 goals between them before returning to Bordeaux. Fell out of favor afte the appointment of Willy Sagnol as head coach and joined ligue 1 side Caen on loan.
Sala joined Nantes on a permanent deal in 2015 and made 100 appearances in the ligue 1 before singing for Cardiff City in the English premier league and was set to make his first appearance for his new club on Saturday.
Emiliano Sala has played 232 games and scored 93 so far in his professional career but is yet to get a national team call up.
On 22 January,2019, there was reported to be a genuine concern that Sala was onboard a missing aircraft, a piper Malibu, flying from Nantes to Cardiff had gone missing of Alderney on 21st January,2019. It was confirmed later that same day that he was a passenger on the missing aircraft.
Emiliano Sala admitted to friends he was getting scared in an audio message sent shortly before his plane varnished from radar in the English Channel.
Hello, little brothers, how are you crazy people? Brother, I’m really tired, I was here in Nantes doing things, things, things, things and things, and it never stops, it never stops, it never stops,” Sala said in a first recording.
“I’m here on a plane that looks like it’s about to fall apart, and I’m going to Cardiff, crazy, tomorrow we already start, and in the afternoon we start training, boys, in my new team.”
A later message from the striker said: “How are you guys, all good? If you do not have any more news from in an hour and a half, I don’t know if they need to send someone to find me… I am getting scared!”
A search for Sala and the pilot commenced on Tuesday with Guernsey Police revealing no confirmation of the missing duo’s whereabouts could be confirmed before the operation was called off to resume on Wednesday morning .
Meanwhile,police have confirmed the chances of finding him alive is decreasing.
Tributes from all angles has since poured in for the missing star with Cardiff City leading those tributes.
Cardiff released a statement earlier on Tuesday from club CEO Ken Choo, who said the club were “praying for positive news”.
“We were very shocked upon hearing the news that the plane had gone missing. We expected Emiliano to arrive last night into Cardiff and today was due to be his first day with the team,” the statement read.
“Our owner, Tan Sri Vincent Tan, and chairman, Mehmet Dalman, are all very distressed about the situation.
“We made the decision first thing this morning to call off training with the thoughts of the squad, management staff and the entire club with Emiliano and the pilot.
“All of us at Cardiff City FC would like to thank our fans, and the entire footballing family for their support at this difficult time. We continue to pray for positive news.”
Nantes coach Vahid Halilhodzic expressed his sadness and shock at the news of his former player’s disappearance.
“I can’t believe, this is impossible, I am shocked, hard to find any words,” Halilhodzic told Croatian 24sata.
“We were with him yesterday, he was here at the club, came to say goodbye… and now this… everyone is shocked.”
Cardiff City fans Fans have paid their tribute and expressed their condolences for the missing Argentine by laying down memorabilia at the Cardiff City stadium throughout Tuesday evening.
His former team,Nantes,have made Sala their main header image across their social media accounts as the search continues.
