Naa Ninche Resigns As Programs Coordinator Of Writers’ And Debaters’ Society

The Programmes Coordinator of the Writers’ and Debators’ Society of the Ghana Institute of Journalsim, Mr. Naa Ninche Abdul-Lahie, Abdul-Rahim, has resigned from his position today, February 8. He made this announcement on his twitter handle, stating that his resignation is due to a pursuit of a “bigger goal.”

“I wish to let go off my position so I don’t have issues of conflict of interest and ineffectiveness.” He explained in the post. According to him, despite his resignation, he is committed to helping the society win the Ghana University Debate Championship, an inter-school debating contest, this year.

In a letter he submitted to the WDS, sighted by this news site, Naa Ninche, expressed he is not happy to reisgn but he explained that his next endeavor is “equally important.” There have been speculations that Abdul-Rahim has plans of running as president of the Students’ Representative Council of the GIJ this 2020. However, we have only fliers from him naming him as ‘ hopeful’ to refer to. There’s yet to be an official declaration of intent from him.

Abdul Rahim served as the Programs Coordinator in the WDS for ten months, having started from May last year. He was also a debater in the club. He organized the Freshers’ Debate during the Akwaaba Week celebrations last year. The club is said to have seen massive growth in membership due to his effort
